Cin/Drome 1.5: Sutapa Howlader

Sutapa takes me through a lifetime of film love, reflects on how her cinematic choices are possibly informed by a life of globe trotting and work in the humanitarian sector, and how that itself may have all started with a childhood fascination with one Indiana Jones.

And we have a few laughs on the way, asking questions like was the Indiana Jones Franchise a bit racist? Why is Keanu Reeves at the top of his acting game when baffled? And can zombies run?

Hello and welcome to my podcast site, Veni Vidi Viti: Tales and Talanoa from The Fiji Islands.

Since moving here in 2019 from the UK I have met some fascinating people from an area of the world I previously knew very little about.

I decided to curate this series of talanoa (a Fijian term meaning storytelling, dialogue and forming relationships) as a way for me to learn more about this amazing culture and share with my friends at home and anyone else who might be interested.

As Fiji and the South Pacific enters the geo-political consciousness more and more, I hope these short, informal discussions will provide and introductory understanding of the region and people in the place I now call home.
